Cotmcihnember Elvig introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #04-03-074 RESOLUTION TO REPLACE EMERGENCY WARNING SIRENS WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey installed 17 warning sirens in 1988 at a cost of $9,000 per siren; and WHEREAS, the life expectancy of these sirens was placed at 10 years; and WHEREAS, the City replaced three (3) sirens in 2003, at a cost of $37,000 (approximately $12,300 each); and WHEREAS, one (1) other siren has been replaced twice since 1988 due to lightening strikes; and WHEREAS, the City has budgeted $32,000 in 2004, for the replacement of two (2) sirens; and WHEREAS, there is approximately $112,738 in the equipment replacement fund for warning sirens which is the depreciable money from 11 sirens obtained in 1988; and WHEREAS, with the funding at current costs, the City would be able to replace approximately (7)more sirens; and WHEREAS, a sealed bid process will be followed for any anticipated purchases over $50,OOO. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: 1) That the City Council of the City of Ramsey authorizes the replacement of four (4) warning sirens fi'om the equipment replacement fund. 2) That thc City Council of the City of Ramsey authorizes the relocation of one unit being replaced, For an improved coverage area.
