Regular Council Meeting April 23, 1979 - Page 4 Ground water pollution - several meetings have been held on this. Some of the wells around the landfill were not put in deep enough but this is being changed, metal content is constantly being checked. Read PCA Report - it states, January - no violations; April 11, 1979, considerable litter problem due to recent winds; daily cover being done on most recent slopes; well monitoring being done. Contract renewal comes up in 1981. Comprehensive Health Department brought.out slides of violations and what they have made them do about correcting them. He requested persons from that area agree to meet with the Health Department and the landfill so it can be improved. He said he would much rather see it as a park than what it is now. He said they could appoint two or three people to represent them and the City would hold a special meeting for this purpose. The City wants to work with them, not against them. He expressed his appreciation with the people coming to voice their complaints. Mr. Van Wagner asked why the City is going to renew the contract in 1981 if they are against the landfill. Councilman Cox replied that there is a $300,000 commitment to go ahead and develop the park when it is completed, the height will be discussed when the new contract is negotiated. If there Were no slope for water runoff there would be a very serious problem. The landfill cou~dn't be left the way it is or there would be contamination for sure. Mayor Gamec scheduled a meeting for April 30, 1979 at 7:30 P.M., for all citizens to attend to meet with the responsible agencies to discuss the problems they are experiencing. Mayor Gamec asked for any other citizen input. There was none. APPROVAL OF COUNCIL MINUTES BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT MEETING DATED'APRIL~9~'1979. Motion by Councilman Reimann seconded by Councilman Sorteber§ to approve the Board of Adjustment minutes as presented. Motion carried. Voting yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmen Cox, Reimann and Sorteberg. Voting no: None. Abstaining: Councilman Mickelson REGULAR COUNCIL MINUTES - APRIL'9~·1979 Corrections: Pa~e"3',' 6~h paragraph, should read Councilman Cox suggested - instead of Mayor Gamec. Page 4, 2nd paragraph, the meeting date should be April 11 instead of April 18. Page 4, Old Business, 6th paragraph should read Mayor Gamec said- instead of Councilman Reimann. Page ZI, 2nd paragraph, change Comprehensive Plan Committee to Economic Development Committee.
