PUBLIC HEARING CITY OF RA~{SEY ANOKA COUNTY STATE OF MINNESOTA Pursuant to due call and notice thereof the Ramsey City Council held a public hearing at the RamseyMunicipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard, Ramsey, Minnesota 55303 Members Present: Mayor Gamec Councilman Cox Councilman Reimann Councilman Sorteberg Also Present: Administrator Schnelle Engineer Raatikka Attorney Goodrich Mayor Gamec called the public hearing to order at 6:32 P.M. and led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. He explained the purpose of the Assessment Hearing is to consider the assessment for BROOKVIEWESTATES and area of Neon Street Assessment. That the City is conducting these hearings at this time to save one years interest. He stated that some of the projects have restoration of ditches, repairing of test holes, some driveway matching to the street, etc., still left to be completed. He explained that it is against the law to install concrete extensions, that it can only be done with an expansion between the driveway and the street. He stated that anyone wishing concrete extensions on their driveWays should contact the City before proceeding. He also explained that those Persons with existing driveways within three feet of the road surface had their driveways connected to the street by the project. And, that due to drainage problems created by the project itself that some driveways had to be done up to six and eight feet. Engineer Raatikka reviewed the project and the costs. Bill Sundeen, 5451 173rd Avenue N.W., asked that additional dirt be installed on his side of the street as he did not want to mow rocks. Engineer Raatikka reported that they are Working on the restoration at present. Co~mcilman Cox asked if Mr. Sundeen preferred sod right up to the blacktop. Engineer Raatikka explained that they leaVe 1-2 feet of gravel surface on the side of the roa~s because it makes a more solid shoulder and that it would have to be graded. Councilman Reimann replied that when the Snow is plowed if there is sod right up to the edge of the roadway that it would cut it up. Mr. Sundeen asked about washing gravel. Engineer Raatikka responded that where the slopes are steep, they will be putting black dirt and seeding and this will prevent waShing the gravel away.
