Pat Jones, 8350 158th Lane asked how the estimates compare with the final project costs. Engineer Raatikka replied the the total project cost came in at about seven (7) percent over ahd the bids were about 19 percent over and there was only one bid. George Petrick, 158th, asked what took them so long to put in the road when it was supposed to be done earlier. Mayor Gamec explained that the City received a surge of projects and that they combined some of the projects to hold the costs down. Councilman Cox commented that the plat presented indicated that the ;two lots in question are outlots and that the building inspector will not issue building permits on these lots and if they don't pay the taxes on these outlots they will become City property anyway. Bill Dodge, 15721 Hedgehog asked why did the bidder get almost all of the bids. Mayor Gamec explained the bidding process and that it is open to anyone. He said perhaps the reason this company bid successfully is that they are located in the area and it was more advantageous to them to do several jobs in the same vicinity. Mr. ,Jones, 158th stated that originally a couple of culvers were to be put in for drainage purposes and he doesn't think that this has been done. They were part of the original estimate. Engineer Raatikka said they were included in the preliminary study and at final plan it was changed. Mayor damec reported that if the cost of the project would have gone up more than 25 percent over the estimate that the project would have been dropped. Motion by Councilman Reimann and seconde4 by Councilman Sorteberg to adjourn. Motion carried.. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmen Cox, Mickelson, Reimann and Sorteberg. Voting no: None.
