Councilmember Elvig introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #04-04-098 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CONTINUATION OF THE FRANCHISE FEE PER SECTION 5 OF THE FRANCHISE FEE ORDINANCE ADOPTED OCTOBER 28, 2003. WHEREAS, at its regular meeting on October 28, 2004, City Council authorized Ordinance #03-44 and 03-44 implementing a franchise fee on Connexus Energy and Centerpoint Energy for year 2004 only; and WHEREAS, Section 5 of the adopted ordinance stated that a quarterly review of the ordinance will be held to determine whether continuation of the franchise fee was deemed necessary; and WHEREAS, for the period ending March 31, 2004, $129,839, was collected in franchise fee revenue; and WHEREAS, based on first quarter revenue collections, it is deemed necessary that revenue collections continue; and WHEREAS, a quarterly review will be held until it is determined that franchise fee revenues are not needed and/or year end 2004 is reached. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: l) That the Ramsey City Council hereby authorizes the continuation of the franchise fee until its next quarterly review which will be for the period ending June 30, 2004. The motion for adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Gamec Councilmember Elvig Councilmember Zimmerman Councilmember Cook Councilmember Kurak Councihnember Pearson Councilmember Strommen and the following voted against: None
