Mevissen, ~rle 1415
Mickelson, David 150
Morrison, Jerome ($6.50/hr)
Muller, Robert 150
Nereson, Phil 1517
Peddycoart, Arlene 912
Reimann, Gary 150
Stenquist, M{chael 1175
Thompson, Susan ($4.90/hr)
Wirz, Lester 1209
Wilkins, Elaine ($45/per mtg)

-2-
Public Hearing

This represents an approximate savings of $8000.

Police Department
~r. Nereson oresented three possible plans that could be used
by the police deoartment.

Plan A would maintain a three man force with the sixteen hour
coverage and a part time chief. Total salaries, adding half time
clerical, would be $59,200.00.

Plan B would maintain sixteen hour coverage, also. However, a
fulltime patrolman would be added, and the chief would be part
time. Total salaries, no clerical included, would be $68,500.00

Plan C would maintain the three man force with sixteen coverage
and add a full time chief. Total salaries would be $69,000.00.

I~. Nereson pointed out that although Plan A represents the lowest
cost, it does not seem to be planning for the future because at
some later time the police department will be increased. It also
does not allow for an additional man on shift coverage and vacation
and sick leave.

Mr. Nerson explained that by adding an additional man under Plan
B shift coverage and sick leave and vacations would be covered
reducing possible overtime costs that could result. This Plan, however,
would leave a lack of administration.

Plan C. Mr. Nereson explained, would get administration into the
department. A fulltime chief would be ink, charge of the officers,
would be responsible for shift coverage and a fair amount of
clerical responsibilities. A drawback to this Plan, however, is
that it is the highest cost and still affords only sixteen hours
service.

Councilman Muller commented that he would like to see the City
build and plan ahead so that when the population is increased the
City does not have the financial burden of having to add more than
one person to the force at the same time.

Mayor Cox was concerned with an increase of taxes and suggested
staying with Plan A, but budgeting a little stronger than what
Plan A calls for.
