The City has received two (2) requests for pre -application workshops
for future land use applications to be held on Thursday, March 10 at 5:30 p.m. Danner's Cabinet
Showroom Expansion. There is policy -level discussion for an expansion of a lawful, non-
conforming use, requiring a CUP to expand. This use pre -dates incorporation as a City. Although
a small expansion, the nonconforming use, proximity to the residential neighborhood, and
zoning/policy questions make this a candidate for public workshop. Pearson Bowers Drive.
Pearson Properties, LLC would like to create 13 rural single-family lots along Bowers Drive,
consistent with existing parcels. This will require a Comprehensive Plan Amendment, Variance,
and consideration to Critical Area Rules, so a good candidate for pre -application workshop.
Attached to the Weekly Update are invites to both workshops.
Ramsey's New Community Park. On Tuesday, February 16, the City closed on the acquisition
of an additional 38 acres for Lake Itasca Park. The property is primarily upland north of Alpine
Drive, and the east shore of the lake including the oak forest where the existing trail wraps around
the southeast portion of Lake Itasca. The park land will likely not see improvements until
residential development occurs around Puma Street and west of Armstrong Boulevard. Until then,
the land will benefit the community as open space, and is part of a connected series of woods,
wetlands and meadow from the lake, north to Trott Brook.—made up of City trail corridor and
North Fork Homeowners' Association lands. Today, the park land can be accessed via the trail,
from Alpine Drive, or from the trail head at 15730 Okapi Street. Last year a pair of Trumpeter
Swans successfully nested, bringing new cygnets into the world. The lake supports a myriad of
waterfowl as soon as the ice is out, and is a popular place for bird watching.
Anoka County Job Fair. Do you or someone you know need a new job?
