• Expanding the bus fleet will require <br />additional vehicle storage capacity. <br />The 2015 capital program will support: <br />• Construction of the Green Line extension with <br />revenue service in 2019. <br />• Completion of a new Transit Police facility. <br />• Bus replacement, facility energy <br />enhancements, improvements to accessibility <br />for people with disabilities, signage <br />enhancements, technology upgrades, and <br />the Apple Valley layover facility. <br />• Programs for overhauling light rail and <br />commuter rail vehicles. <br />• Partial funding for two bus rapid transit lines <br />- Snelling Avenue A Line in Saint Paul and <br />Penn Avenue C Line in Minneapolis. <br />• "Heywood II" garage design and <br />construction. <br />• Enhancements to Downtown East area. <br />• Completion of Woodbury East Creek <br />park-and-ride. <br />SOURCES OF FUNDS <br />Major sources of revenues in the 2015-2020 <br />Transportation capital improvement program <br />include federal funds, regional bonding, the <br />state General Fund, state general obliga- <br />tion bonds, the Counties Transit Improvement <br />Board, and other local funding. These funds have been approved and <br />authorized for specific capital projects. <br />• Regional Transit Capital (RTC), which is used <br />primarily for fleet and for matching of federal <br />funds. <br />• Transitway funding from the Counties Transit <br />Improvement Board and other local funds <br />provided by counties and railroad authorities. <br />C-6 <br />
