Please
be aware that this flushing, while necessary, will create a
disturbance in the system resulting in lower pressures and
possibly discolored water. The water may be discolored by
iron and it may stain clothes that are washed, but it is fit
for human consumption. To alleviate staining, you may
want to check the clarity of the water before washing your
clothes.
We appreciate your patience and regret any incon-
venience that this may cause. If you have any questions
regarding watermain flushing, please contact Utility
Supervisor John Nelson at 763-433-9861 or jnelson@
cityoframsey.com.
Outdoor Warning Sirens
We are looking for volunteers to ob-
serve the outdoor warning sirens at many of
our 17 siren locations. Warning sirens are
the most effective method of warning the
population at large about dangerous condi-
tions. Five minutes of your time each month
is all it will take to ensure your neighborhood
has an operating siren. If you are near a siren
on the first Wednesday of each month at 1:00
pm (within hearing and viewing distance), you
could assist us.
One common misconception about warn-
ing sirens is that they will alert the public to dan-
gerous conditions while indoors. While some
people may live close enough to hear the sirens indoors,
this is not the intended purpose. The sirens are designed
to advise people who are outside that a hazardous condi-
tion exists or is approaching. A battery operated radio or
TV is the best way to stay advised of possible dangerous
conditions when indoors.
For more information on the City of Ramsey's warn-
ing sirens, or on becoming a warning siren observer, please
contact the Ramsey Police Department at 763-427-6812.
Ramsey Resident • March/April 2016
