Mayor Strommen asked the Council if there are other questions not included on the list that they <br />would like to explore. She stated that she would like to see a transportation related question that <br />could be tracked long-term as Highway 10 improvements are made. <br />Councilmember LeTourneau stated that the City has had a business partner for some time and <br />there are some tough choices that need to be made in the future. He stated that perhaps a <br />question could address the appetite for development. <br />Councilmember Shryock agreed that a transportation question should be added and stated that <br />perhaps a priority list could be included that would allow residents to rank greater needs and <br />interests. <br />Councilmember Riley agreed with Councilmember Williams that two items should be included <br />for questions that would address funding for the roads and building permits response time. <br />Mayor Strommen stated that staff now has direction and can amend the question sheet to come <br />back before the Council for further review. <br />7.06: Appoint Interim Fire Chief <br />Fire Chief Kapler reviewed the staff report and recommendation that Fire Marshall Schiferli be <br />assigned the position of Ramsey Interim Fire Chief effective March 1st, until the new Chief <br />begins the position on or about April 10, 2016, including a temporary increase in Fire Marshal's <br />wage for this time period. <br />Mayor Strongmen thanked Fire Chief Kapler for his input and noted that she simply wanted the <br />residents to be aware of the plan that has been put into place. <br />Motion by Councilmember Kuzma, seconded by Councilmember Shryock, to assign Fire <br />Marshal Schiferli to the position of Interim Fire Chief, effective March 1, 2016, and serving until <br />the new regular full-time Fire Chief reports to duty. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Strommen, Councilmembers Kuzma, Shryock, Johns, <br />LeTourneau, Riley, and Williams. Voting No: None. <br />8. MAYOR, COUNCIL AND STAFF INPUT <br />City Administrator Ulrich thanked Fire Chief Kapler for his 25 years of service and contributions <br />to the community, noting that this will be his last Council meeting. He invited the public to • a <br />farewell event for Fire Chief Kapler on Thursday, February 25th from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the <br />Alexander Ramsey Room at City Hall. He stated that Fire Chief Kapler will be leaving the City <br />with a new fire station and advised of the ribbon cutting on the new fire station that will occur on <br />March 1st and invited the public to attend as well.
