PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey Planning and Zoning Commission met on Tuesday, August 11, 1987 <br />at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota <br />to interview applicants for the Commission. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mr. Gerald Zimmerman, Chairman <br />Mr. Terry Hendriksen <br />Mr. Jim Holm <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Community Development Director Anne Norris <br /> <br />Members Absent: <br /> <br />Mr. Jim Howell <br />Mr. Charles LaDue <br />Mr. Roy Shumway <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Chairman Zimmerman called the interview session to order at 7:15 p.m. <br /> <br />Mai Weis~nbur_~er: <br /> <br />Mr. Weisenburger stated that he would like to serve on the Planning and <br />Zoning Commission because he is interested in Ramsey's development. Mr. <br />Weisenburger stated that his home is located in Alpaca Estates and he is an <br />electrical contractor; he is a project manager and is familiar with <br />building issues and zoning; most of his work is with commercial buildings. <br />Mr. Weisenburger stated that he had served on the Golden Valley Park Board <br />for several years. Mr. Weisenburger stated that his concern for zoning <br />regulations and businesses operating in residential areas motivated him to <br />apply for the position on the Commission. <br /> <br />Interview #2: Michael Terry: <br /> <br />Mr. Terry stated that he is applying for the position on the Commission <br />because he wanted to have some control in the development of the City. Mr. <br />Terry feels that the key ia to have an understanding of the "big picture" <br />to better understand individual issues occuring in the city. Mr. Terry <br />stated that speaking from personal experience (Mr. Raudio's proposed PUD on <br />149th and Cty. Rd. #56), he knows that citizens do not always have the <br />facts and do not necessarily comprehend the whole issue. Mr. Terry stated <br />that overall, he feels the City's Comprehensive Plan is a good plan for <br />future development. The City needs to focus on buffer areas between <br />commercial and industrial areas and residential developments. Mr. Terry <br />stated he has no other experience in government; he realizes he can assist <br />in the shaping of a community; government needs to be realistic and <br />recognize consequences of all of their actions, zoning laws and <br />regulations.
