C. Potter Residence
17665 Argon St. N.W.
Ramsey, Minnesota

Riverbank Improvements at

Dear Mr. Schnelle: '

I have received your letter of 9-24-82 requesting my
presence at the City" Council meeting of 9'-28-82.
Unfortunately I will be unable to attend due to prior
travel committments. At your suggestion, 1 am writing
this letter as a statement of explanation to you and the
City Council members in hopes of clarifying any misunder-
standings that may exist regarding the above referenced
improvements.

As you observed during your visit to my property, !
recently constructed a set of steps descending from my
back yard to the ordinary high water level of my Rum River
frontage. The steps were constructed of reclaimed railroad
ties and were placed in what had been an eroded gully that
incised our river bank. This gully was overgrown with
sumac and briar and afforded only tenuous access to our
river frontage. '-

The property on either side of the steps was also cleared
of semi-dense undergrowth and was subsequently sodded. No
trees were'removed other than two dead elms of about 8"
diameter trunk size. A small, flat area between the toe
of the bank and the river's edge was also sodded.
