Office Regarding Local Government Aid to Cities Dear Mr. Kiedrowski: I want to thank you for allowing the City of Ramsey, Metro Losers Group and the Minnesota Association of Small Cities to meet with you yesterday morning. It was very important to us to have this meeting with you and we feel that we did get an awful lot from it, especially the philosophy as to how you see local government aids being distributed by the State in the future. We all recognized that you could not tell us the position that the Governor is going to take in regards to local government aids until after he delivers his State of the State message to the citizens of the State of Minnesota. You mentioned that probably there would not be a change to the formula during this session due to the complexity of the issue and secondly, due to other more serious legislation that has to be dealt.with, but you did indicate that you would like recommendations as to how a study should proceed on revamping the local government aid formula. If you are t~inking about appointing a blue ribbon commission to study and make recommendations as to how the local government aid formula should be changed, we would like to be kept informed as to the proposed makeup of this commission and when they will be convening.
