WASTE MANAGEMENT BOARD <br /> <br />NOTICE OF PROPOSED AREAS TO COMPLETE THE INVENTORY OF PREFERRED <br />AREAS FOR HAZARDOUS WASTE PROCESSING FACILITIES <br /> <br />on. Friday;. December 17, 1982, the Minnesota Waste Management Board <br /> <br />("Board") proposed 16 local areas be considered for inclusion in <br /> ! <br /> <br />its "inventory of preferred areas" for ~azardous ~aste proces'~ing <br /> <br />facilities. TheDe 'proposed' areas are in 13 Twin Cities. <br /> : <br /> <br />m.etropolitan area communities. <br /> <br />! <br /> <br />~'he final inventory, to be completed by the Board in Julyl 1983, <br />will include "pr..eferred areas" for each of these types of <br />facilities: hazardous waste incinerators, chemical waste <br /> <br />processing facilities and transfer/storage facilities for <br />hazardous wastes. The Board will not specifically Site or <br /> <br />construct facilities at the areas in its inve.n.torly. Instead, the <br />Board will encourage private firms to establish these facilities <br /> <br />in areas designated as "preferred" by.. the state. .. <br /> <br />On April 22, 1982, the Board placed eight (8) outstate areas - <br />(outside the seven (7) county Twin Cities metropOlitan area) on <br />its inventory of "preferred areas." JLl.1 eight areas were <br />.designated for ~ransfer/storage facilities, three of the areas <br />were al'so designated :for chemidal .:.'.processing and two of the eight <br /> <br />areas were designated for hazardous-waste incinerators. .. <br /> <br />Public hearings will be conducted during March and April in each <br /> <br />of the communities affected by the Board's December 17, 1982 <br /> <br /> <br />
