I
I
I

Mr. Thomas Gamec
Mayor
City of Ramsey
5810 Neon St.
Anoka, MN 55303

Dear Mayor Gamec:

c~I 50 (~ENTI~,~.[~ ~.VF:NUE N.F::,, I~/AINE, MINNESOTA ..~...~4~14, [612)

February 9, 1983

I
I

I
I
I
I
I
I
i
I
I
I
I

Racetrack is currently an important issue to me. This letter is
to call your attention to developments regarding the potential of
a racetrack facility in Anoka County and request your consideration
of some related actions you might take.

Regarding developments: First, I~m'sure you are well aware of the
supporting resolutions passed by the Anoka County Board of Commis-
sioners as well as the resolution of the of the Blaine City Council.
Copies of both resolutions are attached. Some of you as cities
have already passed like resolutions.

Secondly, there has been a meeting of the Boards of Directors of
area Chambers of Commerce to begin solicitation of monies to mount
a promotional effort. We hope the result in dollars will indicate
real business community support as well as, substantively, launch
the effort.

Thirdly, a committee of Anoka County business people has formed
to spearhead the promotional effort. 'They will augment the Anoka
County Blue Ribbon Commission, together assuring a successful
strategy.

Suggested actions: First, as an An°ka County community, please
adopt and forward or forward a copy .of your already adopted reso-
lution to me. I would like to forward them to the Governor and
legislative parties.

Secondly, lend your support to the Chambers', business community's
fund raising and promotional effort. Securing a racetrack requires
spirit and dollars.

Thirdly, consider committing all or a portion of your CDBG Program
monies to a racetrack project. The City of Blaine is programming
all of its 1983/84 grant toward this effort and I am aware it has
been discussed at the CDBG Task Force Committee level as a potential
County-wide commitment. The racetrack is an industrial/commercial
development attractor--jobs creator of County-wide importance worthy
of such a CDBG commitment. Beyond this letter, however, the City of
Blaine will not push this suggestion, relying upon you to evaluate
