During <br />the one year probationary period, a promoted or reassigned Employee may be <br />replaced in his previous position at the sole discretion of the Employer. <br /> <br /> 8.3 A reduction of work force will be accomplished on the basis of <br />seniority. Employees shall be recalled from layoff on the basis of <br />seniority. An Employee on layoff shall have an opportunity to return to <br />work within two (2) years of the time of his layoff before any new <br />Employee is hired. <br /> <br /> 8.4 Annual leave shall be selected according to the following <br /> <br />procedure: <br /> <br /> Employees shall submit first and second choices for continuous <br /> vacation periods by March 1 of each year. By April 1, the City shall <br /> approved Employee's first and second choices based on seniority. <br /> Senior Employees shall have preference over junior Employees for <br /> their first choice. Then, senior Employees shall have preference in <br /> their second choice. In no event shall senior Employees' second <br /> choice supercede the first choice of junior Employees unless the <br /> senior Employees' first choice was not granted. <br /> <br /> Senior employees shall have preference for shift bid at the <br /> start of each calendar year. <br /> <br /> Holidays, when approved, shall be selected on the basis of <br />seniority up until ten (10) days prior to the requested day off. <br /> <br />Thereafter, holidays, when approved, will be granted on a first-come first- <br />served basis. <br /> <br /> <br />
