I
I
I

PROCEEDINGS OF CITY COUNCIL
BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
CITY OF RAMSEY
ANOKA COUNTY
STATE OF MINNESOTA

A Board of Adjustment was called to order by Chairman Jeanne Schlueter, Tuesday,
April 26, 1983 at 7:45 p.m., at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen
Blvd. NW, Ramsey, Minnesota.

I
I

Members Present:

Councilmember Jeanne Schlueter, Chairman
Mayor Thomas Gamec
Councilmember Sue Van Wagner
Councilmember Gary Reimann
Councilmember A1 Sorteberg

I
I
I

i
I
I

Also Present:

City Administrator Lloyd G. Schnelle
City Attorney William Goodrich
City Building Inspector Clayton Berg
Reporter Carolyn Thompson

Case #1: Board Of Adjustment Variance Request; Case Of Mr. Peter Nieder, 16203
Jas~ar Street NW:

Mayor Gamec stated that requests for large accessory building on one acre lots
have been denied in the past, that Mr. Nieder's neighbors may be agreeable but
Council should remain consistent with past policy.

Councilmember Reimann noted that Mr. Nieder already has a 12' x 16' accessory
building in addition to his garage.

Mr. Nieder stated that he needs the building to store his motor home and avoid
vandalism. He stated that he understands the storage area he is requesting is
not in proportion to his size lot but that his lot size decreased with
improvements made to Jaspar. Mr. Nieder stated that his motor home is presently
be stored elsewhere and that the storage agreement specifies dates for putting
the motor home in and taking it out, that he cannot remove the motor home from
storage at his convenience.

i
I
I

Councilmember Sorteberg stated that if Mr. Nieder's home is situated right,
future subdivision should be taken into consideration. He further stated that
he would like to review the subject area and table any action at this time.

Mayor Gamec inquired as to why Mr. Nieder's case Would be different than those
denied in the past.

Chairman Schlueter replied that Mr. Nieder does have a screening of trees, that
his lot is adaptable perhaps to such an accessory building.

Councilmember Sorteberg stated that Mr. Nieder's request does deserve Council's
full consideration because Mr. Nieder i's requesting just that when he applied
Board of Adjustment.

B of A/April 26, 1983
