I. MAYOR'S
I MESSAGE

In the past month I have heard mare about

sewer and rater in the City of Raesey than I
have ever heard before. The City Councils.
past and 7resent, have been planning the Clty~s
development For almost 20 years, part of which
includes plans for sewer and water.

IAt the present time ke are working on an
assessment policy so we uill know how mower
costs will affect property owners in the City.
This plan is very important to the Council
and will be helpful in making future decisions
Ion street i#proveoents, storm drainage, and
sewer and uater assessments. Xhi$ is only a
sma]! part of the things that oust be looked

at when ordering in projects and when
decisions are made. Without this a good
decision could not be sade for or against a
project.
As I .entloned in ey last message in the
Ramsey Resident, the City Councll is NOT
looking at sever and rater to ANY EXISTIHG
RESIO£NIIAL AREAS in the Clty. In talking
with Councilmeabers, they all uant to keep
this service away from every home in Raasey.
And all coits for se~er and water are to be
given ONLY 10 THE PEOPLE ~gO USE
I believe the City Councils of Ramsey have
done an e~cellent 3ob in planning this City
and holding certain lands open so that the
City can plan its growth and, more importantly,
not have any large tax increases. It has
been sfloen in the State auditing record that
Ramsey is one of the most efficiently run
cities in ~inneosta. on a per capita basis.
I think the most important thing For the
people of Ramsey to do is take proper care
their septic tanks so Lhere will never be a
need for sewer and water to the present resi-
dential area.

~ondey+ Feb, ~gth, Rachel and Krleta both

started meny hours of eetonslve testing, adam
of it very painful for the little gayla. As
soon Il all the toltl are completed, the date
for the Bone Nlrrow transplant uill be set.
YOU ell have or deepest appreciation. It
sakes so Feel so pleased that I live In a
City where people really care. lhank You for
he]ping ay {Best Friend), who I love so dear-
]y and her little girl.
Clcond case ~a the business sectoP on
H.y Ia. I'~e must accosodate the business sec-
tor becaule without thee taxes uil] go sky
high", says ~e~or GallO, Isn't the economic
climate a burden and we all have heard of
fiscal disparity.
ihlrd case is two developments, fiintwood
Hilla and Rsasey lerraca, uhich uil) be ser-
viced in lB86 and lgBB respectively, kfly
should they live ulth city BO s 125 lots?
One eight ask what that means to people lA
the northern areas? "The residents pay for
the trunk Jane on Hvy 10", said ~ayor Goner.
But that's the tip of the iceberg.
Once Baasey hooks up to sewer, ~[ are Jn
the se.er business .ith bi)ling, repairs,
oainenance, and staff. Simultaneously, Rausey
hooks up to uater, costs to ALL include
testing, puop stations, chemicals, repairs,
hydrants, maintenance, b~l]ing and more staff.
I~ve heard sewer and water bring economic
geD.th and prosperity. 3N, Konsanto, Control
Data and General Mills are whispered as
posslbJllties. Does the city have "Visions of
Pittsburgh"?
If you moved to Ramsey for "visions of
Pittsburghn your on the right track. I DID
NOT. ~hen HEED surpasses deem,do l~l] accept
public assessments. But the council is lost
to determine anything but septic failures as
acceptable reasoning.
