In every case, sufficient area shall be provided for
at least two (2) bedrooms in dwellings.
c. For systems other than household systems, the required
treatment area shall be based upon gallons of waste
per day. The required treatment area may be reduced,
for trenches only, by the following percentages:
Twenty percent (20%) for twelve (12) inches of filter
material below the d~stribution pipe; thirty/four
percent (34%) for eighteen (18) inches; and forty
percent (40%) for twenty-four (24) inches. The filter
material shall completely encase the disposal pipes
to a depth of at least two (2) inches.
d. Soil is unsuitable for standard system if percolation
rate is less than one-half (1/2) minute per inch.
See Chapter 150.014G.
e. Consider sewage treatment units for problem soils with
this percolation range. See Chapter 150.014G.

Subd. 2 If)CATION

1. On slopes in excess of twelve percent (12%), the soil pro-
file shall be carefully evaluated in the location of the proposed soil
treatment area and downslope to identify the presence of layers that
may cause sidehill seepage. In no case shall a trench be located within
fifteen (15) feet of such a layer surfacing on the downslope.

2. Bed construction shall be limited to areas having natural
slopes of less than six percent (6%).

3. Any s~il treatment area other than seepage pits shall be
set back the following distances from the features given below.

Feature
Water supply well less
than 50 feet deep and
not encountering at
]east 10 feet of
impervious material
Any other water supply
well or buried water
suction pipe
Bur~ed pipe distributing
water under pressure
Bu~ lding
Property lines

Setback Distance in Feet

100'

50

10

20
10

*Required for new developments and, where practicable,
for existing developments.

4.
