For this reason, we have requested that Waste Man-
agement have this well resampled. We will forward this new data to you
as soon as it is received.

The noted changes in nitrate nitrogen at wells la and 3 and pH at well
la are unusual but they do not necessarily indicate leachate impact on
these wells. Since these are very shallow wells they can be subject to
significant and rapid impacts from the infiltration of surface water
which can affect the nitrate and pH measurements. If these changes were
a result of leachate we would expect a history of continuing nitrate
increase or pH decrease which has not occured. We would also expect to
see similar changes in some of the other parameters, especially chlorides,
if this change represent a leachate impact. Hopefully the resampling data
will clarify this matter.

We will continue to monitor this and advise you of any significant changes.
If you have any questions, please call on me.

Yours very truly~,

R.
