I <br />I <br /> <br />o <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />! <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />PRELIMINARY 1984 CITY LEVY LIMITATION CALCULATION INSTRUCTIONS <br /> <br />The 1983 levy limitation is the amount shown on line 4 of the 1983 Form 280. <br /> <br />The 1983 local government aid is the amount certified in a letter dated <br />July 23, 1982. The amount is shown on line ll of the notice enclosed with <br />the letter. <br /> <br />The 1983 taconite aid payments are the amounts of taconite railroad gross <br />earnings aid and taconite production tax aid already paid in 1983 plus the <br />amount of the taconite municipal aid that will be paid by September 15, 1983. <br /> <br /> Enter the total amount l~vied as special assessments for payable 1983 for <br /> municipal operation and maintenance activities. Do not include special <br /> assessments levied for capital improvements. Muni~cipai operation and mainte- <br /> nance activities that can"~ used for thi~ adjustment if they were financed <br />'by special..assessments levied for 1983 include but are not limited to the <br /> following: ,~ <br /> <br />a) Tree trimming, spraying', ~ep~ir':'ahd removal of dead or diseased trees. <br />b) Removal of snow, ice or rubbish from streets, sidewalks and alleys. <br />c) Weed elimination from streets or private property. <br />d) Removal or elimination of public health or safety hazards from .private <br /> property. <br />e) Street maintenance, including: <br /> <br />1) sweeping and flushing; <br />2) oiling or seal coating; <br />3) painting; <br />4) sanding and salting; <br />5) filling of chuckholes and cracks; <br />6) blade laid patching or paver laid patching provided that the patch <br /> is less than 500 feet in length; <br />7) sign replacement; <br />8) mowing the grass along side of or in the medians of streets and roads. <br /> <br /> f) Repair of sidewalks and alleys. <br /> g) Repair of bridges, tunnels and viaducts. <br /> h) Repair of storm sewers, sewer systems and water works systems. <br /> i) Repair and servicing of street lighting systems. <br /> j) Repair and servicing of traffic signal systems and all regulatory warning <br /> or guide signs, including those for railroad crossings. <br />k) Repair and servicing of parking meters. <br /> l) Operation and maintenance of public malls, plazas or courtyards, including <br /> the costs of management fees, cleaning, sweeping, lighting, heating, <br /> repairing, insuring and policing. <br />m) Ambulance calls and fire calls. <br /> <br />City governments will not be receiving any attached machinery aid as such in <br />1984. The attached machinery aid will be part of their local government aid <br />base. Therefore, the attached machinery aid reduction is the amount of <br />aid your city will receive in 1983. <br /> <br />-1- <br /> <br /> <br />
