Orr Uission: To work together to resposihty grow our community, and to provide quality, cost-effective, and efficient government ierwlcea. <br />CC Regular Session <br />Meeting Date: 02/23/2016 <br />By: Kurt Ulrich, Administrative Services <br />4. 4. <br />Information <br />Title: <br />Pre -Approval of Tuition Reimbursement <br />Purpose/Background: <br />All regular City employees are eligible to participate in a degree completion tuition reimbursement program that <br />provides for 50% reimbursement of tuition and books. Subject to the policy provisions, employees can participate <br />based upon the approval by the department head , the HR manager, and City Administrator. Tuition reimbursement <br />requests by the City Administrator must be approved by the City Council. <br />Notification: <br />Not applicable <br />Observations/Alternatives: <br />The requested course (City Labs)is an elective toward in the degree program of public administration. The course <br />will focuses on analysis of a community center operation, and the development of citizen engagement efforts plus, <br />will broaden my knowledge and network of contacts for the benefit of the City. The City's reimbursement for <br />degree program requires that the course be for the purpose of advanced skill development, and that the course is <br />job-related and deemed to be a benefit to the employer. <br />Funding Source: <br />The 50% tuition expense would be allocated from budgeted administrative training and professional development. <br />Recommendation: <br />It is recommended that the Council consider approval of the tuition reimbursement request for Spring semester <br />2016 as outlined in the attached Pre -approval for Tuition Reimbursement form. <br />Action: <br />Motion to approve the tuition reimbursement request for the City Administrator for Spring Semester 2016. <br />Attachments <br />tuition Reimbursement <br />request S2016 <br />Form Review <br />
