Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION #16-03-050 <br />RESOLUTION TO HIRE THE CITY'S NEW FIRE CHIEF / EMERGENCY <br />MANAGEMENT DIRECTOR <br />WHEREAS, the former Fire Chief / Emergency Management Director, Mr. Dean <br />Kapler left employment with the City of Ramsey on March 1, 2016; and <br />WHEREAS, due to the critical nature of the position, an extensive recruitment <br />and selection process was conducted to fill the vacancy; and <br />WHEREAS, Mr. Matthew Kohner has been selected as the top candidate for the <br />position; and <br />WHEREAS, staff has completed the necessary background checks and is <br />recommending that Mr. Matthew Kohner be hired as the City's new Fire Chief / <br />Emergency Management Director, effective April 11, 2016 at an annual salary of <br />$95,877, which is step 3 of the 2016 wage scale and to provide a credit of five vacation <br />days; and <br />WHEREAS, Mr. Matthew Kohner, as a department head, will be subject to a <br />one-year probationary period and all personnel policies and benefits will apply normally. <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br />Motion to adopt resolution #16-03-050, to hire Mr. Matthew Kohner as the City's new <br />Fire Chief / Emergency Management Director, effective April 11, 2016, at an annual <br />salary of $95,877, which is step 3 of the 2016 wage scale and to provide a credit of five <br />vacation days. <br />The motion for the adoption of the 'foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Council <br />Member, , and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br />and the following voted against the same: <br />and the following abstained: <br />and the following were absent: <br />Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City <br />Council this the 8t1i day of March 2016. <br />
