I

I

I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

siuned the petition.

Kathy Johnston - As far as safety to children is concerned, these children
can get hurt in their own backyards if they are not taught to respect equipment.

Don Volner - After talking to Mr. Reinke and other neighbors, I found out that
cnrtain points were exaggerated by the person circulating the petition, and
conditions are not as bad as they are made to seem.

Marguerite Henke, in repl'y to Mr. Isakson, stated that the petition was circulated
October 24, 1982.

Ile_rb Johnston - Since the petition, it has become known that the permii] would
be for only 6 months and the other families who signed the petition sh.,~uld
be made aware of this fact.

Steve Philaja o Mr. Reinke's attorney - Mr. Reinke did specify "temporary"
~)n his application for condi'tional use permit, and temporary has always been
his intention.

C~]mmissioner Zimmerman stated that Mr. Reinke's application stated that he
wants to "~perate a business out of his home and park three trucks on the
east side of the house."

Larry Henke - The fact is, it is a commercial business in a residential area.

Chairman Peterson replied that there are certain times when conditional use
permits are approved under certain conditions.

Ron Knott - It is everybody's responsibility to grant Mr. Reinke the chance
to afford a shop.

Mr. Reinke stated that through a chain of events, he does have two house
payments, is not expecting any work until it starts to snow, and he just
can't afford to rent commercial property for his equipment. He also stated
that his brother-in-law and nephew (two of his employees) do usually come
to his home daily, even if there is no work.

Marguerite Henke - Mr. Reinke stated that his employees do come to his
residence every day, even to do Mr. Reinke's personal yard and home tasks,
in order to earn their pay. I also feel that investing in four new snow
blades is not evidence that a business is winding down and will cease in
6 months.

Chairman Peterson adjourned the public hearing at 8:24 P.M.

Respectfully submitted,

Sylvia Frol ik
Secretary

Lloyd G. Schnelle
City Administrator/Clerk

P & Z/November 3, 1982
Public Hearing
