I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br />,I <br /> <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> <br />SCOPE: <br /> <br />The purpose of th~s report is to discuss the feasibility of up- <br />grading and surfacing 155th Avenue N,W, between Ramsey Boulevard <br />N,W. and Variolite Street N,W, and Variolite Street N,W, between <br />155th Avenue and 161st Avenue in accordance with the standards for <br />municipal state aid streets (MSAS), The location of the proposed <br />street improvement is shown on Exhibit A, <br /> <br />EXISTING CONDITI©NS: <br /> <br />Presently 155th Avenue N.W, and Variolite Street N.W, consist'of a <br />rural street section, The street section consists of a bituminous <br />pavement generally 24 feet in width with variable gravel shoulders, <br />The right-of-way varies from 66 to 80 feet in width, The existing <br />pavement is deteriorating and is proposed to be replaced in <br />accordance with MSAS standards, <br /> <br />A majority of the existing drainage from the streets flows into the <br />large low areas northwest of the intersection of Ramsey Boulevard <br />and 155th Avenue and southwest of the intersection of Variolite <br />Street and 155th Avenue, Ponding also occurs along the roadside <br />ditches and at the intersection of 158th Avenue and Variolite Street, <br /> <br />Soil borings of the existing road indicate that the road is generally <br />under].ain by loamy fine to medium sands, The pavement thickness <br />was one and one-half inches (1 1/2") with no indication of a <br />grave]_ base, Based on the soil borings and the Anoka County Soil <br /> <br />- 1 - <br /> <br /> <br />
