I
I
I
I

i
I
I
I
I

I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION BUSINESS

Case #1: Subcommittee Reports:

a)

Legislative Subcommittee - Commissioner Muller stated that he and Councilman
Cox attended a Citizens' League meeting on November 30, 1982. The speaker
was Mr. Dave Gustafson of the AFL-CIO. He spoke on State unemployement com-
pensation, stating that the State is $312 million in debt. The situation is
getting worse, not better. The only way out is to charge employee~more money
and lower benefits.

b)

Economic Subcommittee - Commissioner Schneider stated that they are working on
the brochure and will be getting together with Princess Printing soon and may
have a rough draft ready for the next meeting. He stated that Mayor Gamec
said there are funds available from the City to pay for pri, nting.

Mayor Gamec said we may have $3,000 to $4,000 from part of community block
grant funds.

Commissioner Fults stated they would like to print a few pictures of businesses
in Ramsey. He asked if the City had any pictures of City Hall or any of the
community's business places.

Mayor Gamec stated the Officer Bob Kuhn has taken pictures of various City
businesses and that he does a good job, but he feels that if we are to print
them in a brochure promoting the City, we should engage a professional photo-
grapher.

c)

Finance Subcommittee - Commissioner Schmidt stated that the Small Business
Administration has come out with a new program for businesses importing and
exporting.

Commissioner Sentryz asked where he gets information on grants.

Commissioner Schmidt stated through the SBA.

Mayor Gamec said that he sometimes receives information at the City about grants
coming up.

Case #2: Adoption of Local Development Company By Laws and Filing of Commissioner

of Securities Registration Statement and Review 'Adoption of Stock Sale

Prospectus:

The by-laws of the Local Development Company were discussed by ~he Commission.

City Attorney Goodrich explained that the office of the Corporation would be the
City Hall and the boundaries would be the corporate City limits of Ramsey, unless
we wanted to include a larger area, such as Burns Township.

Mayor Gamec stated that Burns wants to remain a rural farming community so it would
be best to just stick with Ramsey at the present.

Commission Schmidt stated that we could always amend the by-laws at a later date
if Burns would be interested.

Economic Development Commission
December 8, 1982
page 2 O~ 4
