I
I
I
I
I

I
I

I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

July 9, 1982

,~, JUL ]9SZ ~
~ - CEIVED ~)

Thomas Gamec, Mayor
City of R~nsey
15153 Nowthen Blvd.
Ramsey, MN 55303

RE: City Parks - Development & Improvements

Dear Mr. Gamec:

I live across the street from a field (with a backstop) that the City
claims to be a park. This is located between 178th & 179th Avenues
on Erkium St.

For the past month or so (once or twice a week) older boys come and play
baseball, which if fine. l~hen they get done playing ball they just sit
around for an hour or so drinking beer, playing music & using very foul
language. I was under the impression that drinking alcoholic beverages
was not permitted in these areas. Also, I understand & realize that the
boulevard belongs to the city, but I DO NOT appreciate the fact that when
they leave, they go spinning out and leaving me (my property) with the
ruts and empty beer cans.

What would it take to get this area turned into a playground for the
little neighborhood children? I'm paying good tax dollars for this area
that is turning into a drinking haven for older kids. At least with a
developed park system I would feel like I'm receiving something in return.
If improvement of the park is not possible because of money problems, would
it be possible to have the backstop moved to the other end of the field
adjacent to Flourine Street, or make % the park into a parking lot so that
when people do use this area there wouldn't be a need to park on the street
and interfere with local traffic?

I'm hoping that you can tell me how I go about getting some wheels turning
for improving some of the many city parks in Ramsey. I am truly hoping th'at
you will take a serious look at my letter & consider a possibility of having
something done.
