Lakeville, Minnesota 55044 (612) 469-388~ <br /> <br />April Z7, 1987 <br /> <br />Mr. Lloyd Schnelie, City Administrator <br />City of Ramsey <br />15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W. <br />Rams. ey, Minnesota 55303 <br /> <br />Improvement Project 81-6 <br />Peltzer Addition <br /> <br />Dear Lloyd: <br /> <br />As requested, we have reviewed Marilyn Gallagher's request dated April 14, 1982, to <br />consider calling in the bond on the above referenced projects. <br /> <br />Our inspection of the project did not reveal any major problems with the streets. <br />In review of the cracks that cross the roadway, we did not find any that were unuuat <br />for the temperature differentials associated with the climate in Minnesota. Crack- <br />ing of roadways is very common in this climate. <br /> <br />tn review of the cracking edges, we found this was generally caused from excess <br />bituminous spilling over the edges in the compaction process. We did, however, find <br />a couple areas where the edges would need repair and additional shoulder material <br />would be required. This work is scheduled to be completed in the next couple of <br />weeks. <br /> <br />In response Lo the insufficient melding or overlapping of the seams, this is a com- <br />mon occurrence during construction of streets during cooler weather. However, this <br />overtopping will not affect the structural integrity of the street and with the <br />warmer weather and traffic these seams soutd become less visible. <br /> <br />Following the completion of all repairs and cleanup by the contractor, we will be <br />recommending final payment on the project. However, as stated in Article 20 of the <br />General Conditions to the contract documents this payment will not release the con- <br />tractor or his sureties from any obligations under the contract documents or the <br />performance bond. <br /> <br />civil · municipal · planning $ environmental · land surveying · geotechnics · waste treatment <br /> <br /> <br />
