Absent- Commissioner

Motion by Commissioner Deemer to add the following as Item c to Performance
Standards:

'l

"Application for building permit in the future, by Mr. Thurmer, should
be cause for review of the growth of his home based taxidermy business."

I
I

Further Discussion: Commissioner Dunn disagrees on the basis that any
citizen has the right to apply for a building permit for a minimum size
accessory building. Commissioner Deemer stated'that if Mr. Thurmer requires
an accessory building in the future, it could possibly mean that Mr. Thurmer
should move his taxiderm~ business to a commercial site. Mrs.' Schlueter, who
was also present at the meeting, inquired as to where Mr. Thurmer planned to
store items normally stored in a garage if the entire garage is to be used
for taxidermy purposes. Mr. Thurmer replied that he doesn't have much more
than a small lawnmower and a garden hose. Chairman Peterson replied that
residents are not required to have a garage. Mr. Berg stated that ordinance
allows for one accessory building and further, that if Mr. Thur~er already
had a storage shed at his residence, the previous motion in this case would
not even apply. He further stated that a conditional use permit is reviewed
annually anyway.

Commissioner Deemer rescinds his previous motion.

Chairman Peterson recommended adding the following to the Performance Standards:

c. That a building permit be obtained for the proposed garage remodeling.

d.' Restrict retail sales to on-site created products of taxidermy only.

Conditional use ~ermit is subject to annual review.

P & Z/March 2, 1982 Page 3
