I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />i <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE cITY OF ANOKA'S EFFORTS TO <br /> <br />SECURE A PERbIIT FOR THE COON RAPIDS DAM AND TO GENERATE HYDROELECTRIC POWER <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Anoka has a history of providing excellent electrical <br />service to J. ts customers and would like to improve that service; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Anoka is applying for a permit to study the <br />feasibility of hydroelectric power generation at the Coon Rapids Dam; and <br /> <br /> ~{EREAS, if the dam were feasible it would provide a good non-polluting <br />source of electrical energy; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, if Anoka operates the dam it would help stabilize electric rates <br />for all Anoka Electric Utility customers living in Ramsey, Coon Rapids, Champlin, <br />Dayton, and Anoka; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, greater concern would be given to flooding problems affected <br />by the dam on the Mississippi River because Anoka would want to protect its <br />customers and neighboring communities; and <br /> <br /> ~{EREAS, Anoka has demonstrated its commitment to parks and open space <br />by the ex~nplary park system it maintains; and <br /> <br /> WttEREAS, Anoka would make every effort to maintain the Regional Park's <br />integrity through appropriate development of the hydroelectric facility; <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Ramsey <br />supports the City of Anoka's efforts to secure a permit for the Coon Rapids Dam, <br />and, to generate hydroelectric power. <br /> <br />Adopted this day of 1982. <br /> <br />Moved by: <br /> <br />Seconded: <br /> <br />For: <br /> <br />Mayor <br /> <br />Against: <br /> <br /> <br />
