The increases are necessary to offset the increases in the wholesale cost of gas that we have received from Northern Natural Gas Company, our supplier to your service area. Northern's first increase results from their increased SS-1 se~wice which was approved by the Federal Energy Regulatory Comission on September 24, 1981 (Docket No. CP80-135). As a result, beginning with bills issued on October 28, 1981, North Central will be increasing all Firm rates for natural gas by $.00656 per hundred cubic feet (HCF). This represents an approximate increase of $8.70 annually to the average residen- tial space heating customer, or expressed as a p_ercentage of increase about 1.7%. Northern's second increase results from their General Rate Increase at Docket No. RP81-52. Beginning with bills issued on or aTter November 28, 1981, North Central will be increasing all · Firm rates by $.03091 per hundred cubic feet (HCF). This repre- sents an approximate increase of $41 annually to the average residential space heating customer, or 7.80%.
