COUNTY OF ANOKA

~ ~OURTHOUSE ANOKA, MINNESOTA 55303 612-421-4760
,' nT:e] ~;~' -,~ Septembe~ 29, 198/~1
OCT

Mr Lloyd Sch le, Administrator
City of Ramsey
' I 15153 NowChen Boulevard N.W.
I
Anoka, Minnesota 55303

I

Dear Mr. Schnelle:

Anoka County has received official communication from the Department of
Housing and Urban Development (HUD) that Anoka County again has the
opportunity to continue as an "urban county" and receive Community
Development Block Grant funds for FY82.

I
I
I

Anoka County will be able to continue in the Community Development Block
Grant program due to special legislation introduced and supported by
Senator Durenberger, Representatives Vento and Oberstar. This special
legislation will allow Anoka County to receive Community Development
Block Grant funding for FY82 if all necessary qualification procedures
are completed.

In accordance with HUD regulations CPD819, we are required to notify
each unit of local government within Anoka County that it has the option
to exclude its population from the Anoka County total population for
Community Development Block Grant purposes. Please note that if you
should elect not to have your population included in the total population
count of Anoka County such an election will be effected for a three-year
period for which the County qualifies as an urban county. Your unit of
government must notify the County and the HUD office, if you do not wish
to have your population counted, no later than November 15, !981.

In order for Anoka County to continue as an urban county and qualify for
Community Development Block Grant funds, it is important to understand
that populations from all cities and townships within Anoka County will
be needed. Within the next few weeks we will be sending you cooperation
agreements in order for your city or township to continue in the program.
In 1981, all 21 communities signed cooperation agreements thus allowing
them and Anoka County to participate in the program.

Affirmative Action / Equal Opportunity Employer
