l[

I
I
!
I
I
I

-15-

wetland. None of these areas are included on the DNR inventory as
type 3, 4 or 5 wetland. Therefore, by definition, they would not

be considered as wetlands.
Groundwater

The following information was gathered on groundwater as a
result of public comment on the proposed Site E:

1. The depth of an irrigation well located in the
center of the site (317 feet) .

2. The depth of a domestic well located on the
northwest portion of the site (21 feet).

3. Information indicating that groundwater from the
south portion of the site may be flowing south toward a
housing development (rather than east).

4. Information indicating that wells within 1,000 feet
range in depth from 25 to 125 feet. The MPCA staff checked
with the source of this information and determined that these
wells are located generally south of the site and east of
Cedar Creek. The deeper wells are to the south of the site in
the housing development mentioned above.

With respect to the irrigation well, the MPCA staff would
note that it is not used for drinking water purposes. If the site
is developed as a landfill, its use would likely be discontinued.
Therefore this information does not bear on the determination of
the intrinsic suitability of the site.
