City of Ramsey
15153 I~OWTHEN BOULEVARD N.W., RAMSEY, MINI~ESOTA 55303 · (612) 427-1410

I
i

September 22, 1981

lto~orable Albert H. Quie
Governor, State of Minnesota
State Capitol
St. Paul, Minnesota 55101

I
i
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
i
I

RE: Your letter dated August 21, 1981 to Mayor Thomas Gamec regarding
State Tax

Dear Oovcrnor Quie:

We, the Ramsey City Council, in response to your letter, agree partially
with your comments. However, you failed to mention How it will affect
commercial, industrial, and rental properties in the S~ate of Minnesota.

Consequently, it is in this light that we think the State of Minnesota has
to revamp its total tax. structure to create fairness in it. In your letter,
you addressed only the homeowner as the one who could suffer from taxes.
It should be noted that we have commercial, industrial, and rental property
which suffer much more than the homeowner will in the situation you men-
tioned.

It is the Ramsey City Council's considered opinion that if nothing is done
to alleviate the property tax burden on commercial and industrial properties,
these type businesses wi'Il be forced to leave our great State of Minnesota.

Sincerely,

CITY OF RAMSEY

Thomas G.
