Anoka, Minnesota 55303 Re: Improvement Projects 81-4, 81-6, 81-9, 81-10, 81-19 & 81-20 Street Construction Dear Council Members: In accordance to your advertisement for bids on the above referenced projects, two bids were received and opened at 11:00 a.m. on August 31, 1981. The bids were as follows: Contractor N.D.H., Inc. Buffalo Bituminous Co. Inc. Total Base Bid $497,986.00 $617,500.00 Alt. Bid.#1 Alt. Bid #2 $507,578.50 $628,750.00 Alt. Bid~#3 $535,971.50 $663,890.00 The engineer's estimated construction cost for the base bid as shown in the feasibility reports for the projects was $545,100. The total low bid received is approximately 9% below the engineer's estimate. The base bid of $497,986 covers the construction of those streets ordered for upgrading by the City Council prior to .or at their July 28, 1981 council meeting. Alternate bid number one includes the base bid plus the construction of the entire portions of 169th Lane N.W., 173rd Ave. N.W. and Driscoll St. N.W. in Improvement Project No. 81-19 as ordered at the August 18, 1981 council meeting. Alternate bid number 2 includes the base bid plus the construction of 153rd Lane N.W. in Improvement Project No. 81-20. This street has not been ordered for paving and would require another public hearing prior to proceeding with the construction. The final alternate includes the base bid plus both of the additions made in alternate bids numbers 1' and 2.
