Councilmember Riley introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION #16-03-054 <br />RESOLUTION APPOINTING COUNCILMEMBER KRISTINE WILLIAMS TO SERVE <br />ON THE FIT FOR THE FUTURE COMMUNITY TASK FORCE, ANOKA-HENNEPIN <br />SCHOOL DISTRICT <br />WHEREAS, after several years of decline, student enrollment has begun growing again <br />in the northern areas of the Anoka -Hennepin School District as the result of a boom in home <br />construction, especially in the Cities of Blaine and Ramsey; and <br />WHEREAS, in addition to the enrollment growth from new housing, the number of <br />classrooms needed for kindergarten doubled when the Minnesota Legislature increased <br />kindergarten from a half -day to a fully day program; and <br />WHEREAS, Anoka -Hennepin School Board is seeking community members to serve on <br />a task force that will develop recommendations on updating existing schools and providing new <br />classroom space to accommodate increasing enrollment; and <br />WHEREAS, Anoka -Hennepin Parent Involvement reached out to the City of Ramsey, <br />asking if a Councilmember would be interested in representing the City and serving on the task <br />force; and <br />WHEREAS, Councilmember Kristine Williams offered to serve as the City's <br />representative on the Fit for the Future Community Task Force. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br />1) That enrollment in the northern area of the Anoka -Hennepin School District is increasing <br />due to a boom in home construction, most notably in the Cities of Blaine and Ramsey. <br />2) That there is a need for a community task force to develop recommendations on updating <br />existing schools and providing new classroom space to accommodate increasing <br />enrollment in the Anoka -Hennepin School District; therefore, the Fit for the Future <br />Community Task Force is being formed. <br />3) That Anoka -Hennepin Parent Involvement reached out to the City of Ramsey asking for <br />City representation on the task force and Councilmember Williams volunteered to serve. <br />4) That the City Council of the City of Ramsey hereby appoints Councilmember Kristine <br />Williams as the City representative to serve on the Fit for the Future Community Task <br />Force, Anoka -Hennepin School District. <br />
