Ramsey Fire Safety Committee <br /> <br />June 4, 1987 <br /> <br />Minutes <br /> <br />Members present: <br /> <br />Acting members <br /> <br />David Bawden, Chairman <br />Steve Suess, Secretary <br />G~ry Dirks <br />Willard Breu <br />William Rustad <br /> <br />Advisory members <br /> <br /> Roger Mechels <br /> Lloyd Reiman <br /> Harold Bar tholow <br /> <br />1) 7:00 PM meeting commenced. <br /> <br />2) Minutes of the last meeting were reviewed and accepted, with minor corrections to <br /> member' s roster. <br /> <br />Chairman suggests keeping a complete record of all documents brought before-this <br />committee or initiated by it. This is already being done. <br /> <br />4) Chairm~%n passed out copies of the ~mdover Fi~e Committee report, of i977, and reviewed <br /> sections of the report including a portion which states that INR funds are for towns <br /> with populations below 10,000. <br /> <br />5) Chairman informed the committee that Art I~ssl has chosen not to serve on the committee. <br /> <br />6) Roger Mechels reported on training. Has contacted aMt. I~le Mashuda, a member of the <br /> Andover Fire Dept. and an instructor in the Fire Fighter I course at the AVTI~ who <br /> may be able to appear before this committee at the June i8th meeting. Roger found that <br /> the FF-I course is approx. 80hrso and is available in both day and night progr~mso <br /> In addition, if a department' has i0-12 members who will take the cou3cse~ it can be set <br /> up at that department's facillities. The cost of the course is approx. 125.00 with the <br /> State picking up a small portion of the cost ( approx. 1~ ). Generally, the courses <br /> are held over the winter months on Thursday ( PMs ) or Tuesday (AMs). The follow-up <br /> courses of FF-II & III are also available. Roger also noted that Mercy and Unity <br /> hospitals freqo offer a First Responder course° <br /> <br />7) Harold Bartholow presented a list of individual fire fighter needs ( equip wise ) and <br /> an approxo cost breakdown. E~ch member recieved a copy and a copy was entered into the <br /> committee record with additional items discussed and their approx, costs noted° <br /> <br />8) Roger Mechels, commenting on item 7, stated that Ham Lake purchased initial items in <br /> standard sizes and that delivery time is approx. 8 weeks. He added that we should <br /> first have the fi~e fighters than order the equip° in the meantime, non-equipment <br /> training could be taking place. <br /> <br /> <br />
