22)

There was discussion as to the level of response potential for grass fires by a start up der
department and to the exact equipment that would be neededo Based on Andover's report,
grass fires made up 71% of thei~ calls.

Roger Mechels pointed out that communication tie-ins for a new department are
readily available and would be relativly inexpensive, as opposed to initiating a
brand new system.

24) Harold Bartholow stated that he would look into costs for a grass rig and a good
pumper.

25) The point of establishing and recommending corridors was brought up but tabled until
a chart of fire calls can be put together.

Willard Breu will be looking into zoning and building codes to help us estimate
future needs and adaptability of equipment. It was suggested that if the codes do not
state a maximum height, then this committee should establish and recommend a maximum
height, in accordance with the Uniform Building Code and Uniform Fire Code.

David Bawden will be contacting insurance co~anies to establish rates to homeowners
in the City and to look at the differences, if any, between the areas covered by
Anoka and those covered by Elk River.

28) 9:00 PM Meeting adjourned.

Respectfully submitted b~$
