Pg.2

8.) It was motioned and approved that an article be placed in the R~msey Resident
to establish the potential availability and desire of residents to be a part of
a firefighting force. It was suggested that the ad be addressed to both male and
female residents between the ages of 18 and 35. Dale McKnight volunteered to
attend to this.

9) Bill Rustad stated that he would get copies of the fire calls in the city from
Dave Hartley to determin the number, type and location of fire calls and to
establish response times. Other sources for information such as Anoka dispatch
and Ramsey P.D. were suggested.

10) Roger Mechels stated he would investigate training options, availability and costs.

ii) Harold Bartholow and Roger Mechels will work together on equipment needs and
CO,tS.

12) Lloyd Reimann will look into the start up costs and operational budget of the Andover
Fire Dept.

Roger Mechels stated that the Dept. Natural Resources has some matching funds
which are dispersed to rural fire departments based on the greatest need and
coverage of wildlandareas.

14) The city has a #10 fire insurance rating at the present time. A concern was raised
about how the rating would drop and the time frame in which residents would see a
drop. This concern was in light of Andovergs rating dropping so little after the
formation of a fire service. Roger Mechels addressed this by stating that the
Insurance ratings drop very slowly and do so with regard to the history, response and
quality of a town's fire service. It was questioned if it is advisable, at this
'time, to get insurance rating information from various companies. The general
consensus was to wait until other concerns have been addressed.

15) Gary Dirks will investigate stats, from Elk River with regard to Ramsey responses°

i6) The point was made that a good fire service could be an enticement for business
development and in turn an additional source of potential daytime firefighters.

17) 9:30pm a motion to adjourn.

18) 9;34pm meeting adjourned.

Respectfully submitted by;
