Roadl & Bridge Committee <br /> City of Ramsey <br /> Anoka County <br /> State of Minnesota <br /> <br />The Ramsey Road and Bridge Co~ittee conducted a regular meeting on <br />Thursday, February 5, 1987 at McGregor's Restaurant in Ramsey, <br />Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Councilmember A1 Sorteberg <br />Councilmember A1 Pearson <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Supt. of Public Works - Merle Mevissen <br />city Engineer - Peter Raatikka <br /> <br />The meeting was commenced at 7:00 A.M. to discuss the need for a one <br />ton four wheel drive dump truck, the need for a light equipment <br />operator, the need for a pUblic works site and the Municipal State Aid <br />Street System. <br /> <br />Item #1 - One ton four wheel drive dump truck: <br /> <br />Merle Mevissen stated that a truck was needed for patching <br />streets, park work and plowing cul-de-sacs and parking lots. <br />He also estimated the cost to be approximately $20,000. A <br />discussion was held on purchase of a used truck. It was the <br />consensus of the committee that a used truck with the <br />equipment desired by the City and in good condition would be <br />difficult to find. Therfore, the committee recommends the <br />purchase of a new truck. <br /> <br />Item #2 - Light Equipment Qperator: <br /> <br />Merle Nevissen discussed the need~for a light equipment <br />operator. He stated that the Public Works Department was <br />short of help and patching was not being done on a regular <br />basis, the city's drainage system was maintained on a <br />emergency basis only and parks were not fully maintained. <br />He also stated that it had been three years since the last <br />full term employee was hired and the city had added a <br />sanitary sewer system, a municipal water system and <br />additional parks and streets. The committee recommends <br />advertising for a light equipment operator with the salary <br />being set by thelpersonnel committee. <br /> <br />Item #3 - Public Works Site: <br /> <br />The committee discussed the possible sites in the City and <br />agreed with the City Engineer's memo of January 19, 1987 <br />that the Raudio site would make the best site for a Public <br />works facility. Both Mr. Sorteberg and Mr. Pearson were <br />concerned with the total cost of establishing a public works <br />facility. They directed the Public Works Supt. and City <br />Engineer to determine the required space for a new building, <br />the cost of moving the existing building and the possibility <br /> <br /> <br />
