CQMMI$SION B~INESS

Case #1:

Update on_En~ironmentaI Assessment and pre-application
for AIP Funding.

Merland Otto contacted the FAA on the status of the environmental
assessment. The FAA was very encouraging. They would like to clear the
environmental review over the winter in order to have the funding available
in 1989. The landfill is still a concern to the FAA. The FAA would like
to hear of its closure.

A discussion between Mr. Otto and Chairman Ippel ensued regarding the
proposed landfill expansion.

Commissioner Barnes reaffirmed the need for aviation training in Minnesota.
AVTI is beginning a dispatch program soon as well as the possibility of a
new radio repair program.

Commissioners Chapman and Barnes suggested that either Carolyn Rosedahl or
Nuri Hassamani of AVTI write a letter to the Ramsey City Council or an open
letter to the citizens of Ramsey about the importance of the potential of
these new programs to our area and the need for improvement at Gateway
North Industrial Airport.

Chairman Ippel would like to speak with Waste Management regarding the
situation or possibly have City Council speak with them. Chairman Ippel
directed the Airport CommiSsioners to call or write City Council members
and stress to them the concerns regarding Waste Management and the AVTI
aviation programs being jeopardized.

Case #2: Commissioner Participag&o~

The need to attend meetings regularly was recognized by all present.

MAYOR ,.AND COUNCIL INPVT

None.

ADJOU.
