Motion by Commissioner Barnes and seconded by Commissioner Greenberg to <br />recommend appointment of Mr. Larry Oltmanns to the AirportCommission to a term <br />to expire December 31, 1990. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting yes: <br />Greenberg. Voting no: None. <br />and Erickson. <br /> <br /> Chairman Ippel, Commissioners Barnes and <br />Absent: Commissioners Donovan, Chapman, Emery, <br /> <br />Case #2: Update on Environmental Assessment: <br /> <br />Chairman Ippel informed the Commission that Merland Otto is putting the final <br />touches on the environmental assessment. The public hearing is tentatively <br />scheduled for April 12, 1988. <br /> <br />Discuss and Review Plans and Information Regarding Special <br />Election of April 19. 1988: <br /> <br />Chairman Ippel reiterated that the March Ramsey Resident newsletter would <br />contain information on the election and that a special Resident would be <br />published the first part of April. The emphasis will be that the vote is on <br />the airport safety zoning and not airport develol~nent. <br /> <br />Chairman Ippel read letters from Mr. Robert Debee (attachment 1) and Mr. Ken <br />Patz of the Anoka Technical Institute (attachment 2) regarding airport issues. <br /> <br />Chairman Ippel stated that Mr. Tom Snell of the Anoka County Chamber of <br />Commerce contacted him after.reading a newspaper article on the upcoming <br />election and wanted to know what the Chambercoulddo regarding the develot~nent <br />of the airport and the potential for economic development. <br /> <br />Commissioner Greenherg stated that it mightbehelpful to set upa hotline for <br />residents to call to find out information on the airport issue before the <br />public hearing and election. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Greenberg and seconded by Commissioner Barnes to <br />investigate the possibility of setting up a telephone line at the Ramsey <br />Municipal Center for residents to call and find out information on the airport. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting yes: Chairman Ippel, Commissioners Greenberg and <br />Barnes. Voting no: None. Absent: Commissioners Donovan, Chapman, Emery, and <br />Erickson. <br /> <br />COMMISSION INPUT <br /> <br />The Commission reviewed the importance of airport safety zoning and the concern <br />that the public is confusing airport development with the safety zoning issue. <br /> <br />Ms. Deb Geske informed the Commission that she will be submitting a letter <br />(attachment 3) for publication in the Anoka County Union and the Elk River Star <br />News. Chairman Ippel read the letter aloud. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Greenberg and seconded by Commissioner Barnes to adjourn <br />the regular Airport Commission meeting. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting yes: Chairman Ippel, Commissioners Greenberg and <br />Barnes. Voting no: None.
