Consensus was to request that city staff send letters of appreciation to
Mr. Dick Sieber and Mr. Don Stauffer for their service on the Commission.

Chairman Ippel noted that Mr. Ron Erickson's term is due to expire.

Consensus was to request that Council reappoint Mr. Ron Erickson to the
Airport Commission for a term to expire December 31, 1990.

Case #2: Discuss Petit i-on. Impact On Airport And What Role A~rport
Commission Should Play:

Chairman Ippel noted that the city has received a petition requesting a
referendum on the airport safety zoning ordinance. The City Council has
determined that the petition is insufficient due to an inadequate number of
signatures by registered voters and some other minor irregularities.
Things that can happen now are:

1. Per the City Charter, the circulators of the petition can make the
necessary corrections to it within a 30 day time period.

2. The circulators can let the petition die.

3. Persons in favor of the airport safety zoning can contact the
signers of the petition, explain the importance of airport safety
zoning and ask that they consider taking steps to have their names
removed the petition requesting a referendum.

4. Let the petition and referendum happen and make every effort to
educate the people as to the importance of airport safety zoning.

Chairman Ippel noted that the petition for a referendum on airport safety
zoning has alerted agencies that it is possible there will be no airport
which presents no land use:conflict with future landfills, thereby placing
Site P back into contention for selection as a landfill.

ADJOURNMENT

Consensus was to adjourn the meeting at 8:20 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Sylvia Frolik
Secretary

Airport Commission/December 9, 1987
