the region plays a specific role and there is no reason why Gateway would
want to duplicate Anoka County Airport's role.

Ms. Graen stated that the Airport Commission has repeatedly stated that the
Airport Master Plan indicates that no jets will be using Gateway;
technically, this is a misstatement to the public.

Mr. Otto replied that Ms. Graen will be doing the Commission and the
community a great disservice if she takes to the public information stating
that Gateway, once it is improved, will serve jet aircraft. Technically,
jets can land at Gateway, but from a practical standpoint, it is not what
would happen.

C~se #2: Discussion Of Petition Delivered To The City Requesting A
Referendum O~The Airport Safety ZoninE Ordinance:

Commissioner Barnes stated that he heard that the people being approached
to sign the petition were. being told two different stories -- one was that
the petition was to have .a referendum on airport safety zoning and the
other was to have a referendum on whether it should be a municipal airport.

Chairman Ippel stated that the City Charter specifies raquirements that
petitions must meet. Once the petition sufficiency has been determined by
the City Administrator, he presents his report to Council. Council then
makes a decision as to the petition's sufficiency or insufficiency. If the
petition is declared sufficient, an election is scheduled. If it is
declared to be insufficient, the circulators have an additional time period
to correct any deficiencies.

~0MMISSION INPUT

The Commission tentatively scheduled the second public informational
meeting on the environmental impact assessment for the regular Airport
Commission meeting on January 13, 1988.

AD40 ,URNME~]T

Motion by Commissioner Emery and seconded by Commissioner Barnes to adjourn
the regular Airport Commission meeting.

Motion carried.
