Chairman Ippel stated tha~ Barton Sand and Gravel has a proposal before the <br />Planning and Zoning Commission for a conditional use permit to extract <br />aggregates and operate ant asphalt plant at County Rd. #116 and County Rd. <br />$56. The operation would include 60' silos; the mining would take a lot of <br />the high ground anticipated for use as fill on airport property and <br />rerouting County Road $1i6. The zoning in place at this time does ~ <br />prohibit such a develotxaent. <br /> <br />Motion by Cc~missioner Emery and seconded by Commissioner Chapman to inform <br />the Planning and Zoning ~C~ission that the Airport Commission strongly <br />opposes granting a condit~ional use permit to Barton Sand and Gravel to <br />extract aggregate and operate an asphalt plant at the requested location <br />(County R~. $116 and County Rd. #56) based on the follc~ing reasons: <br /> <br />1. The proposed use conflicts with the current Comprehensive Plan. <br /> <br />2. The proposed use would be adjacent to a residential neighborhood. <br /> <br />3. The proposed use would create excessive noise, traffic, smoke, <br /> fumes and odors. <br /> <br />4. The proposed use would impact Gateway North Airport. <br /> <br />5. The current process of enacting an airport zoning ordinance <br /> pertaining to al~ of the above. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairman Ippel, Commissioners Greenberg, <br />Chapman, Emery, Barnes. and Donovan. Voting No: None. Absent: <br />Commissioners Sieber, Stauffer and Erickson. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Greenberg and seconded by Commissioner Barnes to <br />adjourn the regular meeting. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairman Ippel, Commissioners Greenberg, <br />Chapman, Emery, Barnes.and Donovan. Voting No: None.
