Council will be conducting the public hearing but it <br />is important that the Airport Commission be present. Letters are being <br />sent to property holders in Safety Zones A and B. Chairman Ippel noted <br />that Council also establiShed themselves as the Airport Zoning Board at the <br />January 27 Council meeting. Council will introduce the airport zoning <br />ordinance at their meeting on February 24. Council has recommended that <br />the airport zoning ordinance require that the Airport Board of Adjustment <br />consist of three Ramsey Board of Adjustment members and two Airport <br />Commission members. MN DoT has recommended that Ramsey notify other <br />affected cities and counties of P~msey's intentions for airport zoning. <br /> <br />Commissioner Donovan suggested that Mr. Otto's presentation at the zoning <br />public hearing include a brief history of the airport master plan study <br />being performed in Ramsey to bring the citizens up-to-date to where the <br />process is now. Cc~missionez Donovan questioned whether Council Chambers <br />will be able to accomodate the number of citizens that might attend the <br />hearing and suggested that Ramsey School gymnasium be reserved as an <br />alternate location for the hearing. <br /> <br />A brief discussion ensued iregarding the status of the EIS contract approval <br />and it was noted that Ramsey should be receiving it's notice to proceed <br />with the EIS within a week. <br /> <br />Commissioner Sieber stated that it should be made clear at the public <br />hearing that any references to a contract would be the contract for an EIS <br />and not a contract to proceed with airport improvements. <br /> <br />Commissioner Sieber inquired as to Council's position regarding the <br />airport. <br /> <br />Chairman Ippel stated that he feels their position was made known in their <br />statement adopted in September of 1986 which states that barring any <br />unforeseen problems, the ~ity of Ramsey will proceed with the necessary <br />action to acquire and develop Gateway North Industrial Airport. <br /> <br />Commissioner Sieber inquired if the Economic Development Commission will <br />pursue marketing the area if the airport is acquired and improved. <br /> <br />Commissioner Greenberg, iwho also serves on the EDC, stated that the <br />Commission will most definitely market the area by promoting the airport as <br />one more utility that Ramsey has to offer. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Sieber and seconded by Commissioner Greenberg to <br />adjourn the regular Airport Commission meeting. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairman Ippel, Commissioners Donovan, <br />Greenberg, Stauffer, Barnes, Emery and Sieber. Voting No: None.
