New materials accepted this year include carpeting and textiles. The event also includes free document destruction (paper shredding) for residents to securely dispose of papers containing personal data (limit of 3 boxes per vehicle) and free disposal of used oil, oil filters and antifreeze. Attached to the Weekly Update is a Spring Recycling Day Flyer. PACT Charter Students Enjoyed Visit to City Hall. On Thursday, April 14, City of Ramsey staff welcomed 52 third grade students from PACT Charter School for a tour of the Ramsey City Hall. The students enjoyed a behind the scenes look at the Ramsey Police Department, explored a Ramsey fire truck and Public Works street sweeper, and learned about the City Council from a front row seat in the Council Chambers. Thanks to everyone who visited us at the 8th Annual Ramsey EDA Business Expo on Saturday, April 16 at the Fountains of Ramsey. We enjoyed meeting many local business representatives and Ramsey residents! An estimated 300 guests stopped by for an afternoon of giveaways, demonstrations, coupons and information from 50 participating vendors. The City of Ramsey is conducting a public meeting at the Ramsey Municipal Center on Thursday, April 21, from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. to allow interested citizens an opportunity to comment on the Revised Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) submitted to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA), on October 30, 2013 as required by the City's National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Phase II Storm Water Permit. A brief presentation will provide background on the permit requirements and annual report material, which will be submitted prior to June 30, 2016. Time will be available during the meeting for oral statements from the public. Ramsey Blvd. Closed April 25-29 for BNSF Railroad Repair. Ramsey Blvd will be closed at the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) railroad tracks near Hwy 10 for repair of the railroad crossing surface, Monday, April 25 through Friday, April 29. The detour route will be US Hwy 10 to Sunfish Lake Blvd to Bunker Lake Blvd. Please contact Harry Grams at the Anoka County Highway Department, 763-862- 4250, or Dustin Karrakor with BNSF Railroad at 1- 320-292-1812, with questions. PROJECT INFORMATION: Repairs will be made to the BNSF railroad` crossing on Ramsey Boulevard (CSAH 56). As such, traffic will be detoured during this time, which is expected to be five days or less.
