Council Update <br />Spring Recycling Event. The Spring Recycling Day Saturday, May 7; from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm <br />at the Public Works facility. The purpose of the event is to provide residents an opportunity to <br />properly dispose of items that are generally not accepted through the curbside recycling program, <br />including appliances, electronics, batteries, fluorescent bulbs, scrap metal and tires. Standard. <br />recyclables, such as newspaper, cardboard, cans, bottles etc., are also accepted. Mattresses and <br />box springs in any condition will be accepted. New materials accepted this year include carpeting <br />and textiles. The event also includes free document destruction (paper shredding) for residents to <br />securely dispose of papers containing personal data (limit of 3 boxes per vehicle) and free disposal <br />of used oil, oil filters and antifreeze. Attached to the Weekly Update is a Spring Recycling Day <br />Flyer. <br />Highway 10 and Armstrong Boulevard/CR 83 Interchange. Construction of the Highway 10, <br />and Armstrong Boulevard interchange project should be complete by the end of May. All signal <br />systems on Armstrong Boulevard/CR 83 are scheduled to be activated and fully operational by <br />May 13. <br />Appropriation for CASH 56. The latest Senate bonding proposal includes an appropriation of <br />$1,500,000 for the CSAH 56 RR grade separation project. This is a,good place holder for the city <br />project, but it still needs to make it into the final legislation that will be determined via joint <br />conference committee with the House. The dollar amount is much smaller than the initial request. <br />of $1 OM, but would cover a significant portion of the design costs. Design work is estimated to <br />take about 12 months, allowing time to determine our success in getting a federal grant, and to <br />apply for additional state money next session if needed. <br />May is Building Safety Month.
