July — Elmcrest Park <br />August — Park Patron Picnic Event <br />September — Wayside Rest Area along Highway 10 and the river <br />Mr. Riverblood stated staff recommends the Parks and Recreation Commission approve the <br />outdoor meeting schedule for 2016. <br />Chair Bennett indicated he liked the plan and allowed them to visit some parks they usually do <br />not see. <br />Motion by Commissioner Mobry, seconded by Commissioner Barr, to approve the 2016 outdoor <br />meeting schedule as presented. <br />Further discussion: Commissioner Troy thought they visited Elmcrest last year and wondered if <br />there were other parks they could visit instead and still be able to interact with Associations. Mr. <br />Riverblood stated they could visit another park if the Commission would wish but they usually <br />ask the Council to the meeting to discuss the CIP and Elmcrest Park and Central Park are the <br />parks where they could meet inside if there was inclement weather. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chair Bennett, Commissioners Mobry, Barr, Fyten, Logan, <br />Trappen, and Troy. Voting No: None. Absent: None. <br />6. COMMISSION/STAFF INPUT <br />6.01: May 12th Arbor Event <br />Parks & Assistant Public Works Superintendent Riverblood stated staff will do their best to pull <br />this event together in the short time left. <br />6.02: Learn to Kayak Event <br />Parks & Assistant Public Works Superintendent Riverblood stated the Learn to Kayak event will <br />occur Jun 4th. The noted this will be the second year in a row they have offered this and it is a <br />very popular event. <br />Commissioner Barr asked how the field conditions were for soccer and baseball. Mr. Riverblood <br />stated there are some practices happening now. He reviewed the parks in use with the <br />Commission. <br />Commissioner Troy stated he noticed that a lot of facilities are not open yet and he wondered <br />when they would be open and ready for the public. Mr. Riverblood stated they have opened a <br />few of the facilities but there were three incidents of frost damage to the drinking fountains. He <br />stated it is a balance to open the facilities on the first nice spring day but then there is the flip side <br />of having cold nights and possible damage. <br />Park and Recreation Commission/April 14, 2016 <br />Page 3 of 4 <br />
