March 10, 2016 'Volume 10 I Issue 5 Zoning Bulletin
TENNESSEE
Anderson County has adopted new local zoning regulations for pain
clinics "in an effort to prevent or reduce prescription drug abuse in the
county." "The zoning resolution amendment provides for a definition
of pain clinics and identifies the clinics as a permitted use in the C-1,
General Commercial zone."
Source: Oak Ridge Today; ht0,://oakridgetoday.com
WEST VIRGINIA
Pending Senate Bill 253 "proposes that drug treatment and recovery
facilities be exempted from any county or municipal zoning
ordinances." Proponents of the bill reportedly defend it as being "nar-
rowly written" and only applying to drug -treatment facilities. Op-
ponents argue that "such a law would open the door for future zoning
exemption requests, and ultimately result in a loss of local control by
county and municipal government."
Source: Herald -Mail Media; www.heraldmailmedia.com
12 © 2016 Thomson Reuters
